🍂 Why Are There Dried, Crunchy Leaves at the Base?
When you receive your Mountain Rose cluster, you will notice a ring of dry, brown, paper-like leaves surrounding the base. This is completely normal and a sign of a healthy, sleeping plant. During its summer dormancy, the plant intentionally draws moisture out of its outer leaves to protect its core center from the heat.
⚠️ Do NOT Peel or Pick Off the Dried Leaves!
These dried outer leaves act as a vital, built-in shield against heat and moisture loss. Pulling at them can easily tear the delicate skin of the stem, creating a direct entryway for bacteria and fatal stem rot. Let nature clean itself—the plant will naturally shed them in the autumn when it wakes up.
🏡 Unboxing, Planting & Care Instructions
Gentle Unboxing: Carefully open your package immediately. Place the succulent in a shaded, well-ventilated indoor area for 24 hours to let it acclimate.
Planting: Prepare a pot filled with a highly porous, gritty cactus and succulent soil mix. Gently rest the base of the bare-root cluster right on top of the dry soil. Use top-dressing stones to prop it up if needed, and place your figurine right next to it!
Light: Bright, indirect sunlight indoors (or use a grow light 6 inches above the plant for 12-14 hours). Outdoors, place in partial shade and gradually introduce to stronger morning sun. Avoid harsh, direct summer afternoon sun.
Watering (Crucial Dormancy Rule): Keep the soil completely dry while the plant is in its summer dormancy. Do not give it regular deep waterings right now, as it cannot absorb bulk moisture without an active root system. You may lightly mist around the base once every 2–3 weeks just to stimulate future root growth.
