If you are looking to add something special to your collection, this live Crassula Ovata Akai is a great choice. Whether you are deep into collecting rare varieties or just want a healthy, unique tree for your space, this Variegated Jade does not disappoint. We pack every Money Plant carefully by hand so it arrives at your door looking fresh and ready to grow.
Product Includes:
1x Crassula ovata 'Akai' Lancaster Variegated tree (about 22 in. tall, 22 in. wide, with a 4 in. trunk circumference, as written on its plant tag). Shipped with excess soil removed and the roots carefully wrapped for safe transit. The exact tree pictured is the one you receive.
1x Custom Unboxing, Planting, and Care Guide. (Note: Soil, planter pot, and planting medium are not included.)
About the Variegation
Each leaf is splashed with cream and green, and the edges blush pink to red with more sun. The color shifts with the seasons, so your tree will look a little different in summer than in winter. A few all-green branches can appear over time; you can prune them to keep the variegation strong.
Unboxing, Planting & Care Instructions
Gentle Unboxing: Open your package right away. Rest your plant in a shaded, well-ventilated indoor spot for 24 hours so it can acclimate after shipping.
Planting: Use a fast-draining cactus and succulent mix with extra pumice or perlite. A shallow, wide pot with a drainage hole keeps the roots healthy and the tree stable.
Light: Bright light with a few hours of gentle morning sun brings out the cream and rosy pink tones. Indoors, a south or west window or a grow light 6 to 12 inches above the canopy works well. Introduce stronger afternoon sun gradually to avoid sunburn.
Watering: Soak thoroughly, then let the soil dry out completely before watering again. Water less in winter. Overwatering is the most common cause of root rot.
Botanical Classification & Synonyms:
For the collectors who like the exact taxonomy, this specimen is Crassula ovata 'Akai', a variegated selection often sold as Crassula ovata 'Lancaster'. You might also see this species labeled as Crassula argentea, Crassula portulacea, Variegated Jade Plant, Money Plant, Friendship Tree, or Lucky Plant.
(Note for search indexing: This collector's tree is sometimes searched for or misspelled online as Crasula ovata, Crassula ovatta, Akay jade, or Lankaster jade.)
Quick Facts:
Hardiness Zone: 10-11 (protect from frost; keep above about 35°F / 2°C).
Bloom Time: Late fall to winter (clusters of small white to pale pink star-shaped flowers on mature plants).
Toxicity: Toxic to cats and dogs if eaten. Keep away from pets.
