Cyphostemma Cirrhosum | Tree Grape | Wild Grape
If you are looking to add something special to your collection, this live Cyphostemma Cirrhosum is a great choice. Its swollen, gnarled caudex and thick exposed roots look like an ancient miniature tree, and fresh grape-like leaves sprout from the branches each growing season. Whether you are deep into collecting rare caudiciforms or just want a healthy, unique plant for your space, this Tree Grape does not disappoint. We pack every plant carefully by hand so it arrives at your door looking fresh and ready to grow.
Product Includes:
1x Cyphostemma cirrhosum specimen (about 13 in. tall and 7 in. wide, as written on its plant tag). Shipped with excess soil removed and the roots carefully wrapped for safe transit. The exact plant pictured is the one you receive.
1x Custom Unboxing, Planting, and Care Guide. (Note: Soil, planter pot, and planting medium are not included.)
Will It Lose Its Leaves?
Yes, and that is completely normal. This caudiciform naturally drops its leaves in fall and winter and rests until spring. The thick caudex stores water to carry it through dormancy. Do not water heavily while it is leafless; new leaves will return once the weather warms.
Unboxing, Planting & Care Instructions
Gentle Unboxing: Open your package right away. Rest your plant in a shaded, well-ventilated indoor spot for 24 hours so it can acclimate after shipping.
Planting: Plant in a very gritty, fast-draining mix (pumice, lava rock, and a little cactus soil). Keep the swollen caudex above the soil line.
Light: Full sun to very bright light. Outdoors, give it plenty of sun in summer. Indoors, use your sunniest window or a strong grow light.
Watering (Dormancy Rule): This plant grows in the warm months and naturally drops its leaves in fall and winter. Water deeply in summer once the soil is dry. Once the leaves start to drop, keep it almost completely dry until new growth appears in spring.
Botanical Classification & Synonyms:
For the collectors who like the exact taxonomy, this specimen is officially Cyphostemma cirrhosum, a caudiciform member of the grape family (Vitaceae). It was formerly classified as Cissus cirrhosa and Vitis cirrhosa, and it is also known as Tree Grape, Wild Grape, and Wild Grape Vine.
(Note for search indexing: This collector's plant is sometimes searched for or misspelled online as Cyphostema, Cyphostemma cirrosum, or Cyphostemma cirrhosa.)
Quick Facts:
